These sailplanes are designed for the FAI hand tow soaring event known as F3J. They are typically built very strong in order to handle the loads of a 2-person launch tow but some are built lighter for the downwind or light air conditions. The spans are typically greater than the F3B planes to enhance the thermal duration performance. These are very good for US Thermal Duration contests as well. |
