Skip Miller Models thoroughly tests (at high altitude, 1645m) the models we represent before releasing them to the public. No model leaves our shop without the Skip Miller Models seal of approval. Skip Miller Models is run by former soaring World Champion and highly decorated pilot, Skip Miller. Our shop manager, Cody Remington, is a former Junior World Champion and a current Senior US team member for F3J. When working with customers, Skip Miller Models’ staff can find the best model for their flying style, help them with flight set up, and give them The Competitive Edge. Skip Miller Models Staff
Skip Miller Owner and founder
Skip Miller, owner and founder, has been a model airplane enthusiast from childhood. His dad, a 40 year veteran with American Airlines and mechanic on famous racing aircraft such as the Gee Bee, Mr. Mulligan, Ike and Pete, encouraged him to build stick and tissue free flight models. He flew early U-control models and at age 5 completed his first solo flight. His dad designed and built his first radio control equipment, and Skip became the official “chaser” of the rudder only Live Wire Trainer. He had his most significant modeling accomplishment in 1977, becoming the 1st World Champion of RC Soaring in Pretoria, South Africa, followed by winning the US Nationals Standard Class and Overall title the same year in California. He flew his Airtronics Aquila, sporting the “Miller Mod”. He has been on 6 USA RC soaring teams, was a pilot on the first USA gold medal winning team in F3B (Miller, Nutter, Payne), a pilot of the first USA gold medal winning team in F3J (Clerx, Miller, Wurts), and pilot on the USA silver medal team (Kiesling, Miller, Wurts) He holds numerous AMA National titles and records, as well as the LSF Grand Champion. He was the first person to complete the Great Race Cross Country course (76km) in Chicago in just one launch. He is a founding member of the Rocky Mountain Soaring Association since it was conceived in 1975, winning the club championship 15 times, 13 years consecutively, and influencing the club and it’s “competitive edge” for over 35 years.
Cody Remington Shop Manager
Cody Remington, 20, is a student at the Denver Metropolitan State College. He is currently studying business management, and plans to get a minor in private piloting. As long as he can remember, Cody wanted to fly. He remembers jumping off tables with plastic bags trying to fly. He took the first opportunity he had when he was 12 with a Zagi combat wing. He met Skip on the slope, and was encouraged to come and fly thermal with RMSA. Since then he has started flying giant scale IMAC 3D, DS, F3J, TD, and is working on getting his full-scale glider license and private pilots license. Cody has been competing with RC sailplanes for 7 years. His first contest was 2003 US F3J Team Selections after only 3 months of flying full house sailplanes. In 2005 he made the US F3J Junior Team. That team went on to win the gold medal in Slovakia, and Cody went on to win the individual gold medal. This was the first time a junior outside of Germany won a Gold medal. Cody has been on every US F3J team since he made the team in 2005. 2009 was Cody’s most successful year. He placed first in the South West Classic, first in F3J in the Rockies, first in the US F3J Team Selections, and first in the RMSA contest series for the second time in a row.
