From Skip, "The STEIGEISEN is one of the most AMAZING aircraft I currently fly. I have never had proper dlg launch technique, but the STEIGEISEN has allowed me to break thru this barrier. Having been the National Champion twice in handlaunch, I find the STEIGEISEN easy to launch, range and find thermals at 100 feet; yet have had countless 15 foot high saves....a characteristic that only the BEST handlaunch gliders demonstrate. It is exciting to fly and it's quality, durability, and advanced design are second to none. The STEIGEISEN flies how I think all sailplanes should fly..it's that good!!!!!

The price point at $799 is an amazing value. You can pay $1000 for like quality, design and performance, but why would you?"

Steigeisen:

The Steigeisen is the new DLG from the Logo design team. It is designed around the new F3K rules which require models the launch very high, range far up wind and down wind, out hang the competition, and still maintain user friendly flight characteristics. The Steigeisen does all that and more! The model is already excelling in F3K competitions, most notably winning the 2009 F3K Euro Tour.

Aerodynamics:

To achieve maximum launch height and maintain a great Lift to drag ratio the logo team minimized drag throughout the airframe. To start they removed the exposed aileron linkages by moving the aileron servos into the fuse and designing a torque rod that internally drove the ailerons. The fuse cross section was minimized around the aileron servos to reduce drag. They also developed a completely new airfoil to achieve maximum launch height and good penetration along with increasing the aspect ratio to achieve a better Lift over drag.

The elevator is a full flying cross-tail mounted on the vertical tail, just like what is being used on the F3J models. This allowed the external V-mount to be removed reducing drag. The Elevator being mounted on the vertical fin moved it further back on the tail, which allowed them to reduce the size of the elevator. This reduced cross sectional drag as well as reduced the drag from elevator deflection.

Construction:

The Fuse is one of the most significant parts of the construction advantages. The fuse is molded as one piece compared to other models which use a pod and boom. Doing this allowed the model to be stronger and lighter than the pod and boom models due to there not being any over laps, or stress areas caused by over laps. The fuse is made with carbon tow to achieve maximum stiffness, with a 2.4 friendly kevlar nose. The push rods are already installed in the fuse for the elevator and rudder, so you just have to hook up the light weight bell crank.

The wing comes in many different layups, we first recommend the aramid space layup for an all around model. This layup has the best weight to strength ratio. Then we recommend the disser space, which is the best light wind or light launcher model.

Disser space: RTF 245 grams. uses 2 cm 1K UHM fiber. The wing is for pilots who want low flying weight or a low wind contest plane. The UHM fiber allows the model to be stiffer than the regular disser wing, and lighter.

Carbon D-box and Disser: RTF 260 grams. This wing has a carbon D-box and regular 3K carbon tow. The result is a heavier wing which the ailerons are less stiff than the Disser Space, but a stronger leading edge to protect against hanger rash. We recommend the Disser Space over this wing.

Aramid space: RTF 255 grams. This is the best all around wing. It uses are combination of Kevlar and Disser space resulting in a extremely stiff wing that is only 10 grams heavier than the Disser Space. This wing will handle all the conditions from light air to heavy wind. We recommend this wing over all of them.

Carbon: RTF 272 grams. This wing is for medium to heavy wind, and very hard launchers. It is the strongest wing.

Flight Characteristics:

The Logo Team put countless hours into the study of the launch of DLG models before they designed the Steigeisen. With high speed cameras and computer analysis the determined that that launching peg needed to be moved farther back to achieve maximum launch hight. With the combination of a further back launching peg, reduced drag, and new airfoils the Steigeisen is one of the highest launching DLG on the market today.

The Steigeisen was designed to out move the other competition DLGs and have a better lift over drag ratio, and they did just that! Flying the Steigeisen is like no other DLG it moves around the sky like a F3J model; from thermal to thermal, down wind, up wind, it does it all with ease.

It is very important to have the high performance, but also be user friendly. Too many times we have seen a great preforming model that is very hard to fly, but the is NOT the case with the Steigeisen. The Steigeisen needs very little ailerons in a turn, and has a very wide speed range so thermaling is a breeze. The Steigeisen makes it easy to squeeze every drop of performance out of it.
