Skips impressions on the "HOW HIGH" altimeter.

"I’m proud to announce that SkipMillerModels was
recently selected by Winged Shadow Systems to offer “HOW HIGH Model Aircraft Altimeters”.  I had looked at all the commercially available units, tested a number of different manufacturers and settled on testing the “HOW HIGH” thoroughly.

And better yet it’s designed, developed and  manufactured  right here in USA and we will always have them in stock!

We test everything here at SMM. In this particular case I had a personal agenda…..I wanted to learn how to throw a DLG. I am not alone and as many, had not made the” DLG throw”  transition  from the ”overhand” javelin launch days.

When I first used the “HOW HIGH”, I literally taped  on the CG and started throwing.(Yes I know it’s better inside the model, but I was looking for relative improvements , and switching it easily between different DLG’s we were also testing was important. A high launch for me was possibly a 50 foot throw; fine for javelin but a landing approach for the competition DLG ships. By using the how high, studying my  foot work, angle of launch, and general rotation I went from my 50 foot launches to 150 foot launches!  By learning how to use this clever device, I could turn the power switch, either by extra  port in my rx, or reset of the “smart bat” accessory and count the blinks…..it was so simple and with immediate feedback. With the hand held display option I could also record the  ten  consequative launches and review on the field right then my average.. I now average  135 feet, no great shakes, and am hitting the occasional 150, but the beauty is its right at the field I can make changes to launch technique and see the immediate results!

I have been able to coach others to improve their DLG  launch. Recently one of my employees was throwing my Steigesen, and by using the How High started throwing over 150 feet regularly and hit his own personal best of 177 feet!

Given how much we invest in the high technology of DLG these days, the investment of $39 to find out what real launch height you are achieving  seems like a must have” for any pilot wishing to improve the launch phase of DLG  flight.

The ease of which I can transfer from ship to ship. The ease of which on the spot I can see the height either by counting flashes or readout on the display. The ease of which I can log ten launches in a row and SEE exactly what I am doing and review on the spot…this all has become invaluable for me……….plus when my buddy tells me he’s launching 185 and we tape on his ship find out it’s really 130…well lets just say it’s cleared the air on numerous occasions! FUN STUFF and a very well engineered package… We have ”HOW HIGH” in stock and ready for you to improve…an amazing value for  an invaluable device…did I mention we use it for testing F3J competition launches too? It’s great to practice your speed tow “technique and find out “HOW HIGH” you really are in a ½ second tow!

My best,

Skip Miller
